The end of November is here and it’s time to get in the groove for a little gift wrapping for the upcoming holiday season. What is a gift without a tag?

A tag can be more than your standard To and From and can announce various salutations, such as quotes to live by, snippets of a song, someone’s initials, favorite number, …..

I have had such fun this past month designing tags for the upcoming holiday. Here are a few examples of what you can do to personalize or jazz up an otherwise dull greeting tag.

Stamp a tag with black ink using a floral design to add an upscale element. If you don’t have stamps, you can easily type out a number, alphabet letter in a fancy font or copy and paste a flower or leaf that you find online into a Word document. Then print it off on your printer, with a tag adhered with tape onto the white Xerox paper. Printers may have difficulty re-sizing your image to a small tag size so I get around this by lightly taping my tag onto my printer paper and sending it through the printer. Note: I usually print the image onto the white paper first and then send that paper through again with the tag attached on the exact same spot.

Another idea for printing tags is to find a tag template online, which will often have 6-8 tags on it. Design or copy/paste images or letters you want onto the tags and print off the entire sheet of tags, cutting them out afterwards. The easiest tags to use are on a sheet of sectioned rectangles as seen below. No fancy shape or cumbersome cutting. A simple paper cutter or good old scissors will do the trick quite easily.

A person’s initial, a phrase from a Christmas tune like “Deck the Halls” or a festive sentiment ” Ho, Ho, Ho” “Happy Holidays” can accompany a gift name tag. Using a hole punch, attach a red string or jute string for a rustic look.

Who doesn’t love to receive a gift with an extra special tag that highlights a personal sentiment. Tags just go a step further than ribbon & bow and are a quick and fun way to say you care.
